HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team dropped its Southland Conference opener to Sam Houston State, 7-0, Thursday afternoon in Huntsville. The Ladyjacks fell to 4-4 (.500) on the season.

The Bearkats swept all three tennis matches to take a 1-0 lead. Junior Laura Harrison battled the Bearkats' Irina Sotnikova tough at No. 1 singles, but dropped the match 6-4, 7-6. Senior Kama Scott fought Sam Houston State's Lata Assudani close in the first set but dropped the match, 7-5, 6-1. The Bearkats closed out the match by winning the final four singles matches.

The Ladyjacks return to action Tuesday when they travel to Beaumont, Texas to take on Lamar. The match against the Cardinals is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
