BEAUMONT, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team knocked off Lamar, 6-1, Tuesday afternoon. The Ladyjacks improved to 6-4 (.600) overall and 3-2 (.600) in the Southland Conference.

The Ladyjacks doubles tandem of sophomore Jessica Beauchene (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) and junior Sandra Wolfe (Austin, Texas) lost their match at No. 1 doubles, but SFA fought back to win at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The Lady Cardinals tied the match at 1 when the Cardinals' C. Paz beat Beauchene, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. But the Ladyjacks got back on the winning track with junior Christine Huynh's (Katy, Texas), 6-0, 6-1, victory over Lamar's C. Mayfield at No. 2 singles. That was all the Ladyjacks would need as they rattled off wins in the final four singles matches.

The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday against Southwest Texas. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., from the SFA Tennis Courts.
