Roadrunners Outpace SFA
April 7, 2002 NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team lost its second consecutive match with a 6-1 decision to Texas-San Antonio Sunday. The Ladyjacks are now 6-7 (.462) overall and 3-5 (.375) in the Southland Conference. Just like the previous day, SFA surrendered the doubles point when the Roadrunners were able to pick up victories and Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. The Ladyjacks did win their match at No. 3 doubles when the duo of freshmen Robin Houston (Shreveport, La.) and Ashley Johnson (Nacogdoches, Texas) defeated the Roadrunners' Emily Foster and Alysa Reid, 8-0. But the Ladyjacks were not able to turn that into momentum in the singles play. UTSA put five more points on the board, taking victories at the Nos. 1-5 singles positions. Johnson came through at No. 6 singles to put SFA on the scoreboard with her victory over Alysa Reid, 6-0, 6-0. The Ladyjacks return to action Friday against North Texas. The match is slated for a 3 p.m., start from Denton, Texas. -SFA-
