SFA Gets Road Split Against NW St. and UCA

April 7, 2008

Final Stats

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA women's tennis team picked up its second SLC win of the season on Sunday, getting a 5-2 win over Central Arkansas after falling to 6-1 on Saturday to Northwestern State who is undefeated in the SLC.

The Ladyjacks (7-12, 2-6) got an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles by the duo of Roxana Enica and Mary Harrison, but dropped the other two matchups to surrender the doubles point to the Sugar Bears; however, SFA took five of the six singles matches to cruise to the win.

Enica picked up her second No. 1 singles win of the week with a straight-set win over Petra Keilova 6-2, 6-2. Gaby Gadeva got a 6-3, 7-5 win in No. 3 singles while Tanya Smolnikova, Andreea Enica and Christelle Kaempfer also took straight-set wins in Nos. 4-6 singles as well.

Against the Lady Demons it was only Roxana Enica that was able to salvage a point, knocking off Northwestern State's No. 1 player, Bogusia Patzer in come back fashion 2-6, 6-3, 10-4. Enica was also nearly helped pull out another doubles win, falling in a close 8-6 match with Mary Harrison against Patzer and Daniela Posada for the Lady Demons.

The Ladyjacks have two more SLC matches remaining, both at home, as they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday before taking on UT-San Antonio on Sunday at the Schleif Tennis Complex.

SFA will then host the SLC Mens's and Women's Tennis Tournament April 25th-27th.
