Denton, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's tennis team kicked off the fall season on Friday at the Mean Green Invitational with sophomore Roxana Enica advancing in singles play.

Enica knocked off Texas-Arlington's Sofia Lifanova in straight sets - 6-2, 6-2. She will continue her singles play on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. against Army's Kristin Beehler. Beehler also won in straight sets - 6-4, 6-2 - over Texas Tech's Ingrid Ballus.

Enica did not fair quite as well in doubles play as she and partner Mary Harrison fell 8-6 to Coleman/Unkaya of Texas Tech in the first round of play. They also fell, 8-2, to Vucic/Friend in the consolation side of the bracket.

Overall, the Ladyjacks struggled on the season's opening day with Enica being the only one carving out a victory.
