NACOGDOCHES, Texas - In the midst of homecoming festivities on Saturday was the official start of an exciting time for the Ladyjack tennis team as SFA held the groundbreaking for the Gerald and Candace Schleif Tennis Complex. The complex is set to open in time for the Southland Conference Tennis Championships in April of 2008.

Mr. Schleif - a former tennis player at SFA - was on hand along with his wife for the ceremony. Also in attendance was SFA Direct of Athletics Robert Hill, SFA President Dr. Baker Patillo along with members of the Board of Regents and other distinguished guests.

The pavilion is being constructed on the north side of the current tennis courts, alongside the parking lot next to the Student Recreation Center. It will include such amenities as lockers for each player and offices in addition to instantly becoming the centerpiece of the tennis complex.

SFA will have the opportunity to display the complex to the rest of the conference at the SLC Tennis Tournament, April 25-27, 2008, in Nacogdoches.
