Sept. 25, 2007

UTPA Game Notes

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Match three of a five-match homestand takes place tonight when SFA hosts UT-Pan American in a non-conference bout at 7:00 p.m. from William R. Johnson Coliseum.

Play-by-play can also be followed online via Gametracker at www.sfajacks.com.

SFA has won its last five matches and ten of its last eleven overall. The Ladyjacks currently stand 11-5 overall and 2-0 in Southland Conference play after picking up sweeps over Northwestern State and Central Arkansas on Friday and Saturday. Debbie Humphreys' squad will play a pair of conference matches this weekend versus UT-San Antonio and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before hitting the road for six-straight matches through mid-October.

UTPA come in 7-11 overall and having won four of their last five matches, with the only loss coming to Sam Houston, 3-1, in Huntsville last week. First-year head coach Angela Hubbard has a youthful team on her hands, with only one senior -Mallorie Wilsonon - the roster. Junior setter Chelsea Blakely became the program's all-time leader in assists at the Prairie View A&M tournament, earning all-tournament honors in the process. This will be the Lady Broncs' fourth match this season against a Southland Conference opponent, having beaten UT-San Antonio and lost twice to Sam Houston.

What to watch for against the Lady Broncs:

• SFA currently holds a 15-match home win streak.

Lauren Railey needs only seven digs to become only the fifth Ladyjack to ever total 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career - she is only a junior.

• With two wins this week, Debbie Humphreys will pick up her 450th win of her career.

• SFA is 8-0 all-time against UT-Pan American under Debbie Humphreys.
