Dig For A Cure Proves To Be A Success

Oct. 30, 2007

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - With money still coming in, all indicators point to last week's Dig For A Cure match against Sam Houston as being a success having raised more than $3,000 so far for the fight against breast cancer.

Last Tuesday an estimated crowd of 750 showed up at Johnson Coliseum to show their support for the Ladyjacks volleyball team and to help fight breast cancer as SFA picked up an important conference win over rival Sam Houston. The match also saw SFA pick up 75 digs on the night, with every one of them sending money to the American Cancer Society.

Dig For A Cure is finding popularity at schools around the country as 18 teams have participated in it in 2007 with the average per school being $2,777. SFA has surpassed that mark with $3,059 accounted for so far.

Participants were able to pledge money per dig that ranged from 10 cents per dig to as much as $2.00 per dig. Also, pledges were accepted on a flat rate that ranged from $1.00 to $500. The Zeta Tau Alpha sorority also showed their support, donating pink t-shirts that were sold with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society.

If you pledged per dig or still want to support the fight versus breast cancer, checks can still be mailed to the following address; however, all checks should be made out to the American Cancer Society:
