Former Ladyjack Named SLC Associate Commissioner for External Affairs
Dec. 18, 2007
FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference has named former Ladyjack volleyball player Jenny Orndorff as Associate Commissioner for External Affairs, league commissioner Tom Burnett announced Tuesday. Orndorff, a former all-Southland volleyball student-athlete and graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University, is currently the vice president of corporate sponsorships with the Texas Tornado, a North American Hockey League franchise based in Frisco. Orndorff currently oversees all sponsorship development and fulfillment for the hockey organization. `We are very pleased to announce that Jenny Orndorff is joining the Southland Conference staff," Burnett said. "Jenny's accomplishments in corporate sales, community relations and marketing with the Tornado are very impressive, and we believe her abilities and experience will help our league and institutional athletic programs advance their external operations." Orndorff, who will join the staff on Jan. 14, will coordinate all aspects of the Southland's corporate partner program, oversee the league's promotions, marketing and licensing efforts, and enhance the conference's public relations efforts. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to represent the Southland Conference in a professional capacity," Orndorff said. "Having represented the conference as a student-athlete for four years at Stephen F. Austin State University, I am very fortunate to be joining an outstanding group of individuals and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the Southland Conference." Various Tornado corporate partners include J.C. Penney, Southwest Airlines, UPS, Baylor Medical Center at Frisco, Park Place Dealerships, Texans Credit Union and many other local companies. Prior to her current post, she directed the Tornado's community relations and marketing partnerships, and was also a ticket operations executive. A native of Arlington, Texas, Orndorff graduated magna cum laude from Stephen F. Austin in 2001, earning a degree in business marketing. She was a four-year letterwinner for the SFA volleyball team, earning all-league honors in 2000. An academic standout as well, Orndorff was named to the SLC's Commissioner's List Academic Honor Roll in 1998-99, was a member of the Southland's volleyball all-academic team in 1999 and 2000, and was an SLC Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient in 2000-01. She remains involved with volleyball as strength and conditioning trainer with the North Dallas Junior Volleyball Association, and was formerly an assistant coach with the organization. Orndorff is also actively engaged in numerous community efforts, including serving as a member of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors. |
